In Istanbul, a taxi driver who charged 1900 lira instead of 600 lira from a tourist was both cancelled and fined by the administration.
The certificate of a taxi driver who was found to have overcharged a tourist in Istanbul was cancelled for 30 days. In the statement made by IBB Public Transportation Services Directorate, it was stated that the public transport vehicle usage certificate of the taxi driver who was found to have overcharged the tourist was cancelled for 30 days.
The taxi driver was also given an administrative fine in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Misdemeanours.
Elena Vykhodtseva, a tourist named Elena Vykhodtseva, stated on her social media account that she travelled to Istanbul Airport and that the taxi driver charged her 1900 lira when it should have cost 600 lira.
